The New Quorum

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

Musicians and composers working in all genres are invited to apply. Applicants may be between professional engagements, recent graduates of post-secondary education, on leave/sabbatical from a professional career, or preparing for concerts, gigs, and recordings. The New Quorum’s residency program provides sound artists at all stages of their careers with the opportunity to create work in a new context and to meet and interact with New Orleans’ artistic community and the city’s devoted audiences. The program is uniquely focused on initiating and promoting a dialogue between sound artists and the public and in generating a better-informed and recurring cultural audience in New Orleans. Contrary to traditional artist residencies — which typically offer a “tranquil” environment in which to create — The New Quorum’s Artist Residency Program thrives on interaction among residents, collaboration between residents and local musicians, and communication with the New Orleans community at large to inspire the development of new work.

Residencies can vary in length between two and four weeks at a time. While self-directed in nature, artists can expect to be a part of a diverse New Orleans artistic community.
